Flying time...

my how time flies!! Now less than a week till Christmas! WoW! I was recently in Kelowna, for my pops wedding, hung around the area and skied Silverstar and Big White. Very fun, good/great conditions. I've posted some photos, although boring for most, haha Click below for the link to my flikr page
In preperation for my website launch, www.thailandbiketours.com, (I also need to add, I won't be Just touring Thailand on bikes, but any ol way you like ;) I've added a bunch of Thailand photos on Picasa and Flikr. Both of these apps I'm finding horribly annoying, but what can you do. Flikr automatically updates to a map, and does so right from iphoto, Picasa doesn't seem to bring my geotags "over" from iphoto. Picasa uses google maps, flikr some 12yr old fabricated map, haha, just kidding... anyway, here are couple links: http://picasaweb.google.com/haynesrocks http://www.flickr.com/photos/44487086@N04/

Chilliwack August 7th Racing August 8!

After a 'successful' weekend in Quesnel, we are off to Chilliwack. Actually, we have a quick pitstop in Penticton, for a "demo" ride, at the newly formed OMRA (Okanogen Mini Roadracing Assocation). Practice/Qualifying Saturday Racing Sunday. Cody is in so many events, that it's really, "racing all day" and I'm, this year, it seems so few, that, I'm scattered. I may enter another class this weekend, as it's a new track, and heck, why not hurt myself, haha. Would Really Like to See Any West Coast Folks out, I know Chilliwack is a bit of a drive, but not as far as from Calgary!!! hehee (ps - successfull typically means "No one got Hurt!")

Press Release and Photo Link

http://picasaweb.google.com/haynesrocks/Mosport?feat=directlink CBR 125 Challenge Rookie Debut for Cody Conrad onboard a Durham Honda race weekend was a thrill! Cody's first National event, first time on a big track, first time to Toronto area, first sponsored ride. A little overwhelming at times, eye-opening at others, and a great maturing experience as Cody continues to come out of his shell and feel comfortable at a Race Track. Arriving at Mosport and driving into the pits does not really show you what you're about to experience once you throw a leg over a bike and hit the track. All the tracks we've raced on, except the once a year experience at the marvellous Quesnel track, has little, or no elevation changes or blind corners. Mosport is full of them!! The blind downhill corner two was just about everyone's favourite and the hairpin in mos-corner was just fun. Cody was introduced to "his team sponsor" Friday afternoon and was quite excited to put some ...

What A Weekend!!!

What great fun that was!! Special thanks to the AMRA for enabling 'us' to go and take part. Fantastic Time, Fantastic Results. We both even finished the Race!!! Cody will be doing a "Press Release" tonight, going over the highlites, something I'll be helping him with, but I going from, beating the President on Saturday, to Uncle on Sunday, not sure it can get much better than that!!! I'm at work, but still feel a buzz from the weekend What A Rush!!!

Last Lap Last Line!!! Cody....

Last lap Last Turn Drive to the Finish Cody beats AMRA President!!!! Great Day!! Rained JUST before race, which through things for a little loop but when the race started, was pretty much dry track. There were some concrete strips you had to watch out for, but by and large, you could pretty much hold your line. Great result and we get to do it all over again tomorrow. 1:30est live timing!!

Everyone Improving!!!

Friday was a good day and a little exciting, after the end of qualifying, Cody dropped almost 9 seconds!!! morning to afternoon was only a second, but the 8 in the day was awesome. He met the owner of "his" bike, which was neat, and they plastered his bike with some 32 Durham Stickers, the dealership that bought the bike. We're having an incredible time, and Really super glad we made it. Cody's favorite turn is 2, a really fast downhill blind turn, you really don't know whats on the other side of the hill till you get up and over it; all while "flat out" on the cbr125. In fact, you really only slow down Twice, a hairpin'ish Turn5 and the turn that leads on to the straight, EVERYTHING else, is full throttle!!! Of course it takes some time to "get to" this all out throttle, but that is the Fun!!! We have now qualified, and the first Race of the Double header is tomorrow at 5, I think. You can see LIVE timing, of races and qualifying, now ov...

Thursday at Mosport!!!

Our first days!!! A track with elevation! something different for us Flatliners!! and steep to boot to!! and "blind" corners that you couldn't see through! "fast" for us mini-folk, we don't typically keep our bikes full throttle like this on go-kart tracks, so this was interesting. All us Western Folk did well, all told 6 Western Canadian kids, outnumbered only by 7 Eastern Kids. One round of practice tomorrow, then qualifying tomorrow afternoon

amra National Round 3 Calgary

here's a short slide show, pretty much just of "our" family racing. Cody, Christy, and of course, me.... I was/am just coming off a broken collarbone, so was/am really taking it easy, and didn't enter all the races I typically would. In one race, all I woulda had to do is Finish, and I coulda "podium'd" but my bike broke,,,,, sigh..... I took it as a sign. Cody and Christy both did well, but more importantly, had fun.... One photo, you may say, hey, did Cody finish 2nd and You 3rd???? Perhaps, but as I said on the podium, it was like "taking a knife to a gun fight" Both first and 2nd place bikes are 2stroke 65cc beasts (roughly 15hp??) and I was on a 100cc four stroke, lucky if it makes 6ho (Really shouldn't even be in the same class, but, hey, thats the way it is,,,,) Ok!! Hope you enjoy SlideShow!!!!

"View from la hamaca"

It was not an easy task, making a Slide/Video Presentation from "doing nothing" for 3wks but Alas, I've given it a go…. Of course it's too long, I think 60min, so I've included some things here, that I won't have time to go over before the start. included are five google earth screen shots of "Where" I went in Colombia, and where the pictures are from This is my Second attempt at creating a presentation that is 'not' in Chronological order, but rather, based on 'themes' I should stop tormenting myself and just "Select All" and create Slideshow… but I don't, and instead, you'll see what I've done virtually non-stop for the last, oh month…. as you all know, sorting thousands of slides, and hours of video to make Something… that you Hope, is Entertaining….. and if you like, a Song to get you in the Colombian mood (I was handed this cd as I was leaving a hotel, evidently from a new artist trying to break into the sc...

Colombia View from "la hamaca".

Well, highly anticipated by few My Colombian video is Finally Complete (well almost) I will be uploading 6 Chapters over the next week or so. Here, is Chapter 1. Highlites include: View from "la hamaca". Loungin'. Cafe del Mar. Scenery (Black vs White photos taken, not created). ok, well, not that anyone is looking at this blog (hey, I have stats you know) but, Soon, I will be posting my Colombian Presentation I'm just having "issues" no, I don't "Have" issues, I'm "having" issues Yes, there's a difference sooon I say... Soon!!

Finally... hey, it's only been a week

ok so I've finally gotten around to posting some pics, (Cartagena II on left side nav) Photos: Museum of Modern Art, and Gold Museum, both in Cartegena's 'Old' City I'm off to get my "Yellow Fever" shot aarrgg Have I ever told you how I don't like shots.... HEY if you had 14 in your stomach before you were ten, you'd feel the same way (rabbies, see, there's my excuse for my strangeness, I have rabbies, hahahaha) Been to Cartagena, the Barranquilla Carneval, starts tomorrow, should be interesting and hopefully pictures soon to follow!! (2nd largest South American Carneval behind Rio's, in fact, this thing has seems to have been going on a week now, with various and sundry parade's, noisy concerts....)

Made it, but wouldn't Suggest It!!

an hour 'layover' is not really a layover, nor stopover, for that matter It's a 60min PANIC Fest.. All 'n all however, I made it through the TO Int. Airport, in time, even for bevvie before boarding the TO-Bogota leg. And now, Barranquilla, where I understand, this evening, Friday the 13th, there is a parade, woohoo, who doesn't like Parades!! We'll let you know, and hopefully I get some photos posted this time, haha
